Today we weren’t planning on going to any super busy spots, so we slept in until 8ish. After breakfast we went straight to the ranger station to figure our a good hike for the day. All of the hikes we picked out of the book were closed for maintenance or for some other reason. Fortunately, the rangers are awesome, and gave us a few options.
We hiked up Elephants Back, which is right behind the big Yellow Hotel. It’s a quick incline, but relatively short mileage-wise so we were able to soak in the views and do another hike. Our second hike was more of a walk along the water (Indian Pond and Storm Point). About a quarter of the way in, we found a good beach spot so we stopped and hangout for awhile.
We walked along the beach to get away from people, and were able to read and swim for about an hour and a half before finishing the trail. The views of Yellowstone Lake and the surrounding mountains were so amazing that we jumped in the water again.

We finished the hike and headed back to camp to hangout and make dinner over the fire. After dinner, we put out the fire in time to make it to the ranger program, where they talked a lot about Yellowstone being made a National Park, and the structure that needed to be built in order to enforce the rules of the park’s conservation efforts (people were still hunting animals and harvesting resources (trees, etc.) from the national park for awhile after it became a park.

After the ranger presentation we cleaned up our campsites for an early departure tomorrow morning and went to sleep.

I love your lounge :)
