Today we woke up in the Grand Canyon! We already planned a spot to hike to see the canyon, but we had to change some plans. My poison oak was continuing to get worse. It covers my right arm, part of my my left arm, it’s growing on my right leg, is appearing on my stomach, and has a few spots on my left leg. Needless to say, something needed to change. We went to the clinic nearby to get some help.
Before the clinic we went on an amazing hike that we took from the National Parks book again. It was an incredible view, and there was only one other group of three people on the hike.
Once we enjoyed the views, took some pics, we went to the clinic to get fixed. They gave us each steroid shots to help dry out our poison oak. Thanks to insurance, we paid $0 copay and $0 for the injections. We felt like the itching was immediately better (likely placebo effect), and continued on with our day.
Terrible photo of the clinic...it was actually really nice
We knew we needed to do laundry. The most important thing is to remove any oils form our clothes to avoid any spreading. We spent some time doing laundry and catching up on post cards, blogging, and reading. It was good to get everything washed and organized in the car.
After laundry we tossed the frisbee for a bit before showering and heading to grab a drink. We were meeting Tim and Elyse at our campsite for dinner, and they hadn’t arrived yet, so we went to one of the lodge’s cocktail bar. It’s always interesting when we can’t communicate immediately. We’re so used to being able to always communicate with each other that when it isn’t possible, we FREAK OUT!
We didn’t actually freak out - we knew they knew where to go, but we just left a note letting them know we grabbed a drink and would be back.
The views were incredible as the sun was going down, but we headed back to reunite with Elyse and Tim for dinner and hanging out. Tomorrow we’re off to Zion after breakfast!
