Cliff Jumping

7/10/2018

Our alarm went off at 4am this morning to see the sunrise 45 minutes away, but in the moment, we made the decision to do all the early morning things tomorrow, and sleep three more hours. When we finally got up at 7am (still early for summer vacation tho) we ate breakfast and made our way to Jenny Lake. This is supposed to be a super busy and pretty spot. It obviously isn’t bad, but to be honest there aren’t any bad views here.

We took the Jenny Lake drive and headed for Taggart and Bennett Lakes trail. We laced up and hiked to Bennett Lake, took a dip and ate some food, then headed to Taggart Lake for a quick view. Taggart is busier, and less swimmable, to we hiked back to the car as some clouds rolled in.

We took the scenic drive home, stopping for coffee and a cliff jump.

We were on a road that’s recommends all wheel drive, so there were close to zero people on the road. We ran into a few people, but compared to the busy roads of the national park (we were just outside the park) this was empty.

Once we got back to the campsite, we jumped in Jackson Lake again, made dinner over the fire, and hangout by the fire until we called it a night. Even though we didn’t wake up super early this morning, I still felt very tired today. I don’t know why, maybe all these early mornings are catching up with me.

Tomorrow is an actual early morning, we’ll see if we make it!
