Today we woke up a little later than expected, due to the unexpected late night last night. The good thing is we don’t really have a tight schedule most of the time, so when we woke up we made the oatmeal we were going to make yesterday, but brought our camping stove into the “kitchen” (it’s outdoors) so it wouldn’t take 12 hours. We showered and hopped in the car for Palm Springs.
We wanted to check out Palm Springs since it’s only 30 minutes away and lots of people enjoy vacationing there. Our plan was to do some thrifting, so that what we did. We went to three thrift stores and each found some good stuff. I’ve been on the lookout for a swimsuit and shorts, since I have only one good pair of each (the one good swimsuit is not considered a good swimsuit by Kevin or Alex…).
We grabbed lunch at the Ace Hotel, which was recommended by one of Sophia’s friends by the campfire last night. It’s a super cool spot. I didn’t know there are other locations, but if we lived here I think we would join their annual membership. It’s $400 for a year and it includes a gym, a pool (they do music and other fun stuff on the weekends), discounted food a the restaurant, and discounted spa services (not that I’m known to go to the spa, maybe I would if it was discounted!).
The tacos were good there, so I assume all their food is at least decent. They also have frozen drinks, perfect for the 100+ degree days.
Our last stop was H&M where I found a good swimsuit, and other clothes I need (more than one pair of). It was around 3pm when we headed back to the Airbnb and pool. It was another ridiculously hot day, so we vegged (pronounced vej-D) by the pool until dinner. We picked up pizza from Pie To The People!, which has their second restaurant in Washington, and supplemented that with our farmers market vegetables.
Dinner was somewhat late, so we ended the day with another soak and organized our stuff for our departure tomorrow :’(. We’ve been here for awhile, but still not ready to leave. Alex and I talked about retiring to the desert, maybe we’ll buy some property now while the price is hot.
(No extra pictures today - not a ton of photo ops, more in tomorrow's!
