Damnation

6/2/2018

This morning we slept until 9am - much later than expected! After making a quick hash over the fire we packed the car and headed for Damnation Creek Trail. Alexs sister hooked us up with the amazing “Secrets of National Parks” book that’s given us al the best suggestions so far, including this hike.

The hike today was about 4 miles round trip, starting with a descent to the ocean. We walked through more gigantic Redwoods before ending up on a giant rock next to crashing waves, which is where we broke for lunch and a beer. No better way to hike up 1,000 feet than with a slight buzz?

In the morning the beautiful clear view from yesterday was covered with fog, but by the time we got down to the beach it had all burned off (as you can see above). The afternoon was filled with swimming, a hot shower #glamping, and burger for dinner. The night isn’t over yet, but we’re likely going to just sit by the fire, read, and head to bed early. Tomorrow we have a 5am wake up call and a 10+ hour drive to Yosemite. These days are the longest driving days we’ll have, but we have to do it to see all the cool stuff!

We’re backpacking in Yosemite, so I won’t be posting again for a few days. I’ve also decided not to post every single day, so I can avoid spending lots of time on my phone every day. I’ll write down all the best parts of the day and post them every few days (and play catch up when we’re in the backcountry).

That’s all for today, if you have any San Francisco suggestions send me a text 612-272-1151 - we’ll be there after Yosemite!
