We woke up naturally as the sun hit our tent around 7:15 and made some quick oatmeal before packing up. The deer that visited us yesterday came down again this morning and are a little sketched out by us, but didn’t seem too troubled.
We had an easier day than yesterday, but our bodies were sore and tired. I thought I was in decent shape, but these hikes have proven me wrong. We crossed the river with no problems and started climbing. We went 2.5 miles before lunch, which was almost halfway, but also almost all of the elevation for the day.
The rest of the way was fairly easy, passing Nevada Falls from yesterday and heading into Little Yosemite Valley. We walked an extra half mile because we couldn’t find the campgrounds, so that was fun. The sogns were not very clear, there were lots of crisscrossing trails, and no one was at the ranger station. We did end up finding camp, and were able to find the site farthest from people.
It’s a much busies campsite, but we still had our privacy. We walked down a different trail to find a great swimming spot and soon after were submerged in the chilly water. So fricken refreshing. My hips were fairly raw from the backpack hip straps so the water gave them a good sting.
Our ladybug friend that actually joined us for every meal
We fired up a quick quinoa dish, saving enough for lunch tomorrow and read until the bugs got too annoying. There is a communal fire pit, but it was surrounded by a bunch of high school boys (the worst 😜) so we elected to read in the tent and call it a night.
